Search Grant County Released Inmates

A Grant County released inmate search must follow the record after a person leaves the current jail roster. Grant County released inmates may appear in the county release search, a Kentucky corrections record, a court case, or a supervision record, depending on who held them and what happened next. To search for Grant County released inmates, start with the custody system that recorded the departure. Then compare it with the legal record that explains the event. Grant County released inmates are not all discharged to the community, since a transfer can remove a name from one facility while custody continues elsewhere.

Grant County Release Meaning

“Released” means that a person left a named custody authority at a recorded time. It does not always mean freedom from all custody. Grant County Detention Center holds local detainees and Kentucky state inmates, so an exit may lead to the community, another jail, a state prison, a treatment placement, or another agency. The official release date is tied to that one facility event. The next authority must be checked separately.

A person normally disappears from the current-only roster after departure. That makes the roster useful for present custody, but weak as proof of a past release. Grant County JailTracker has a stronger Released search. Kentucky Offender Online Lookup, known as KOOL, continues the trail for a state offender. Court records explain bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, shock probation, or another order. VINE can confirm a reported custody event. These sources answer different parts of the same question.

Key distinction: leaving Grant County Detention Center can be a community release or an interagency transfer. A release date alone does not establish the destination.

Grant County Release Paths

The legal basis and the physical exit are separate facts. A court may authorize bond or probation, yet the jail still must process the order and check other holds. A sentence may end, while a federal or immigration pickup begins another custody episode. Read the release record with the court docket, KOOL, VINE, or the receiving agency record.

Release pathWhat it meansBest next record
Bond or recognizanceA court permits release under stated terms.Court order plus JailTracker or jail confirmation
Time served or dismissalThe sentence is satisfied or the case no longer supplies custody authority.Judgment or docket plus actual release date
Probation or shock probationA court places the person in the community under conditions.Court order and KOOL supervision entry when applicable
Parole or mandatory reentryKentucky DOC custody changes to supervised community status.KOOL, Parole Board action, and VINE
TransferThe person leaves Grant County but remains held elsewhere.KOOL, receiving jail, BOP, ICE, or USMS routing

Do not infer the path from a missing name. Match the booking episode and read the exact status. “Time served,” “discharge,” and “transfer” are not interchangeable terms.

Grant County Release Record Fields

JailTracker results identify a custody episode through names, dates, and record numbers. Its detail can also carry cases, charges, holds, bonds, sentences, court dates, and an image, but the facility decides which fields are filled. A useful formal request asks for the existing release record and names the fields needed.

FieldWhat it shows
Booking number or jacketConnects the result to the correct jail episode and person.
Book date and timeMarks the start of the displayed custody episode.
Release date and timeRecords departure from the releasing facility.
Release type or dispositionMay state bond, time served, transfer, or another recorded basis.
Facility and destinationIdentifies the releasing site and, if recorded, the receiving authority.
Cases, holds, and chargesLinks the custody event to court or agency authority.
Supervision informationShows whether parole, probation, or another status follows.

A public result may omit the exact time or destination. The underlying record may contain more. Court files supply the legal order, while jail and VINE data better show when departure was processed.

Request Grant County Release Records

The public JailTracker window ends after its 30-day choice, but that does not set the jail’s retention period. For an older event or missing detail, ask Grant County Detention Center for an identifiable existing record. Its site does not publish a verified jail custodian email or local fee schedule, so call before sending the request.

  1. Gather the full legal name, date of birth, approximate booking date, and any booking, jacket, case, DOC, or PID number.
  2. Call Grant County Detention Center at 859-824-5191 to confirm the current custodian and accepted delivery channel.
  3. Request the booking and release record, release date and time, recorded disposition, destination or receiving agency if recorded, holds, and booking photograph.
  4. Ask for electronic copies when available. Seek existing records, not a new narrative or custom recent-release list.
  5. Use Kentucky DOC’s written open-record route for a state notice of discharge, parole action sheet, or state offender image.

The sheriff is a separate custodian. Its open-record procedure applies to sheriff-held documents and photographs, not automatically to jailer records. The sheriff lists regular photocopies at $0.10 per page and states a five-day response period excluding weekends and legal holidays. Those terms should not be assigned to the detention center without confirmation.

Kentucky Release Record Law

The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs requests subject to its terms and exceptions. KRS 61.872 addresses inspection, KRS 61.874 addresses copies and fees, KRS 61.878 lists exemptions, and KRS 61.880 covers agency response and Attorney General review. A request should describe existing records with enough detail for a reasonable search. Protected parts may be withheld while other parts are released.

Online access is not the same as retention. Kentucky’s DOC schedule marks its “Inmates and Releases” series as permanent, while the county web search offers only a short public window. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, privileged, security-sensitive, or active-enforcement material may be restricted. If an agency denies access, its response should identify the legal basis.

Does Grant County Bond Mean Release?

No. Grant County Detention Center does not publish a local bond schedule on its site. Its official FAQ directs callers to the jail for bond or Pretrial information. The Grant Judicial Center says bond payments may be made by cash, certified check, or cashier’s check, but an amount or accepted payment method does not prove the jail processed departure.

A person may have another hold, another case, or added processing after payment. Pair the court entry with JailTracker’s released result or direct detention-center confirmation. This distinction is especially useful on the day an order is entered.

Grant County Court Release Proof

Grant County maintains separate Circuit and District Court contacts. District Court commonly handles misdemeanors and felony preliminary matters, while Circuit Court handles felony disposition. Start at the KYeCourts guest search, accept the guest terms, locate the Grant County case, and read the docket in date order.

Look for bond orders, dismissal, judgment, sentence, probation, shock probation, revocation, or credit for time served. The clerk remains the source for an official copy. Court action explains the legal authority, but the detention center or VINE confirms physical processing. A person can also have more than one case or county hold.

Missing Grant County Release Records

A missing public result does not prove that no custody episode occurred. Kentucky expungement can remove or restrict qualifying court and agency records under an order. The official process starts with an expungement certification, then a petition filed with the clerk in the county of the original charge. Legal Aid of the Bluegrass serves Grant County for legal-process help.

The certification is not the order itself. Retention rules, spelling, date limits, access restrictions, and system scope can also explain an empty search. Use expungement resources for legal navigation, never as proof of release.

Find Grant County Released Inmates

Choose the search by custody type. A single name search cannot cover county, state, federal, court, and immigration systems. Two records are strongest: a custody source for the actual departure and a court, DOC, Board, or receiving-agency record for the reason and next authority.

  1. Pass the captcha in Grant County JailTracker, choose Released, and search the 7-day or 30-day window.
  2. If no released result appears, check Current Only. A current match means that displayed episode remains active.
  3. Use KYeCourts and the Grant County clerk to identify the order, disposition, or sentence.
  4. Search KOOL when the person is or was a Kentucky state offender, including one housed at the county detention center.
  5. Check VINE for a specific custody status, release date, and notification option.
  6. For older or incomplete data, request the named jail or DOC record.
  7. Use BOP, ICE, or USMS routes only when federal or immigration custody is supported by the case.

The Released Last 24 Hours method explains how to derive a same-day view from Grant County’s actual seven-day control. It is not a separate official feed.

Grant County Recent Release Search

Grant County has a real released-person search, but its native choices are 7 Days and 30 Days. There is no verified 24-hour or 72-hour filter. Results can show surname, first and middle name, book date, release date, booking number, jacket, and facility. Detail fields may include a photo, cases, charges, holds, sentence, court dates, bond, and a VINE route.

No official update cadence, longer public archive, or county inmate-search mobile app was found. If a name is absent from current and released views, check spelling, aliases, court, VINE, KOOL, and the detention center. Do not build a conclusion from roster disappearance.

Grant County Release Supervision

Parole is a Kentucky Parole Board decision that lets an eligible state prisoner serve part of an unexpired sentence under community conditions. Probation is ordered by a court. Mandatory reentry supervision is a separate statutory path near sentence completion. KOOL’s current location and supervision fields help distinguish them.

Parole
Conditional community release granted through the Parole Board process.
Probation
Court-ordered community supervision instead of or connected with incarceration.
Discharge
The end of the applicable custody or supervision authority.
Absconder
A DOC allegation that a supervised person lost contact or failed to report, not proof of a new crime.

Grant County belongs to DOC Probation and Parole District 12. No Grant County storefront is listed, so use the district office rather than assuming a Williamstown office exists. The Parole / Probation page gives the exact verification path.

Grant County Release Programs

Grant County Detention Center has a notable state-inmate treatment role. Its official description includes a 100-bed, six-month Substance Abuse Program and an expanding 80-bed SOAR program, along with community-custody work beds. Kentucky DOC describes SOAR as aftercare focused on relapse prevention, education, and reentry.

These are in-custody programs. Participation does not prove that a person has left the jail or entered community supervision. Confirm the actual event through JailTracker, KOOL, VINE, or the releasing facility.

Grant County Jail Program Growth

Program expansion is the verified local history, rather than an unsupported construction date. GCDC describes 69 community-custody work beds, 100 Substance Abuse Program beds, and an 80-bed SOAR expansion. DOC traces SOAR from a 2019 Northpoint pilot to later jail sites that include Grant County.

Capacity figures require attribution. The detention center and Fiscal Court describe 348 beds, while an August 28, 2025 DOC weekly report lists 280 total jail beds. The sources may count licensed, operating, program, or reportable space differently. Neither figure supplies an annual release count.

Grant County Release Notifications

Kentucky VINE can search a specific person and register phone, text, email, in-app, or supported TTY notices. Official guidance says a not-in-custody result gives a release date. It does not give a post-release address or prove the absence of another hold. Cross-check surprising alerts with the facility, KOOL, or court record.

Federal custody uses other systems. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates and can show “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” with a date. ICE’s locator covers its own detention data, while USMS has no general public released-person locator. A county transfer to any of these authorities is not community release.

BOP accepts federal register numbers or a name search and may show a past release date without a facility location. That means BOP custody ended, not that every form of custody or supervision ended. ICE searches require its own identifiers, and a no-result does not confirm release. The U.S. Marshals Service often places federal prisoners in nonfederal facilities, so a federal defendant can leave a county roster because of movement under federal authority. Follow the custody type shown by the case instead of testing every locator as if each held the same records.

Grant Release or Continued Custody

Read each locator within its scope. The same person can leave one system and enter another. The clearest answer matches the named facility, booking episode, date, and next authority.

SystemStill heldAfter departure
Grant JailTrackerCurrent Only resultReleased result within 7 or 30 days
KOOLPrison or jail locationP&P supervision, former status, or release-related date as displayed
VINECurrent custody locationNot-in-custody status and release date when supplied
BOPFederal facility locationReleased or Not in BOP Custody wording
Court fileDetention or remand orderLegal basis such as bond, dismissal, sentence end, or probation

“Remand” means an order sending or keeping a person in custody. A detainer is another agency’s request or authority that can prevent a direct community release.

Why Grant Release Searches Shift

Grant County’s mixed local-and-state role makes roster loss unusually ambiguous. The detention center houses state inmates and appears as a location in state parole materials. A name can vanish because Kentucky corrections moved that person to another facility.

When the case involves a state sentence, follow the person into KOOL. A new prison location is a transfer. A P&P location points to community supervision. Neither should be rewritten as an unconditional discharge.

Grant County Release Facility

Grant County Detention Center is the county’s verified adult custody facility. It holds adult men and women, including local detainees and Kentucky state inmates. Local exits may lead to the community or another authority. State inmates may transfer within DOC or later leave under DOC authority.

No separate adult city jail, state prison, federal prison, or dedicated ICE detention center was verified inside Grant County. The Sheriff’s Office shares the Barnes Road complex but is a separate agency, not a second jail.
